Moving Tips
Before you receive your trailer, make sure to rent different-sized dollies with their straps locked in place. This is a great way to insure that you can accommodate the variety of unwieldy furniture and heavy items you own. Don't push the loaded dolly up the truck ramp. Be sure to pull it up the truck ramp while ascending backwards. Make multiple trips and try not to overload your dolly.
Most of your items will fit in standard-sized boxes, but some of your larger and more fragile items may require a specialty carton to fit its unique dimensions. Specialty boxes of different sizes and materials are available for purchase at your local hardware store as well as frame protectors for your pieces of artwork. You can even look into item specific cartons for mattresses, instruments, lamps, and even mirrors.
Tag any wire or cable you detach with a color coded labels or marked masking tape to reconnect them in the future. Be sure to mark the port or outlet for each cable and wire with its corresponding tag.
